How to disable liveupdate in MetaTrader 5?
If you experience any troubles with new MT5 build, you can roll back to the previous version.
Despite this, MT will constantly try to update itself.
To disable live update, do the following steps:
1) Go to the %appdata%\MetaQuotes\Terminal\ folder:
2) Find the terminal you want to stop update (terminal path is shown in the origin.txt):
3) Delete the liveupdate folder.
Then make a new liveupdate.txt file and rename it to liveupdate (without extension).
4) Do the same with the %appdata%\MetaQuotes\WebInstall folder (replace it with the empty file).
5) Enjoy ;)

I come across this post few days ago, and try it.
and yes, you're right. Failed.
My computer is stop working 2 weeks ago,
When i finally get another one, i've installed all application that needed, including MT4&5.
Yes, absolutly right, they push their newest version(6128) that is buggy and chaotic (i've experimenting converting mq4 to mq5 using Gemini, and 2 of it worked).
So, i used the MT to compile them.
it behave strangely, not working on particular mt5 that running on my vps. while on my computer it worked.
I tried to search the cause.
I tried to rolldown, tried v5326 (i dont know if this is stable and reliable enough). I follow the instruction from point 1.
But when i try to compile it, it work perfectly on many version.
But, the annoyed part, when we keep connecting to the internet with MT running, it keep downloading the update file. and the pop up windows show message that newest version is ready, restart or later.
I rolled back again several times, and it happen again.
I tried so many method to preventing it from auto download update file, such belows :
1. using /skiupdate.
2. using dummy files, like this post to folder WebInstall & liveupdate.
3. try to block liveupdate IP/Domains, by change the 'host' file with the whole list of probable ip or domains that cause all of this.
4. Using windows firewall control.
None of them work
the moment i turn on MT4/5, the folder dummy files (liveupdate) is replace with active folder filled with updates files, and soon pop up message is shown.
I'm frustrated, and try to look for last effort.
Dissabling Inheritance.
I did it yesterday, and the dummy files never changed to active folder and no of pop up message since then, even when MT4/5 is runninng and internet is connected.
Let me try running it for a few days, if it really work i'll tell you guys.
